Wakesurfing

Have you ever wished you could have more time on your board actually riding it?  Waves don’t give us much time to explore our surfboards, or even get enough repetitions to try new maneuvers.  And we definitely don’t want to waste precious waves figuring this out.

With Wakesurfing, you get the chance to ride an endless wave.  You have the rare opportunity to try the same maneuver over and over again, until it begins to embed into your muscle memory.

The equivalent ocean wave count per day when wakesurfing: 60-90 twenty second ocean rides, 27-40 forty-five second rides, 20-30 sixty second rides!  When was your last surf trip with that kind of wave count per day

What can I work on While Wakesurfing?

With repetition after repetition, a surfer can work on building muscle memory on the following:

  • Trimming & Finding Power Zones
  • Speed Management
  • Speed Generation
  • Various Top Turns and Styles
  • Various Bottom Turns and Styles
  • Loading the Rail on Turns
  • Body Positioning
  • Stance / Feet Positioning
  • Foot Movement
  • Foot Pressure
  • Cross-Stepping
  • Hanging Ten & Hanging Five
  • Pop Up (yes, even the pop up)
  • Airs
  • And anything else your imagination can come up with!

Embed the motor learning into your subconscious through repetition after repetition.

What is the Difference between Level 1 and Level 2 Wakesurfing?

Level 1 Wakesurfing is for surfers who have never been behind a boat in any sport.  Level 2 Wakesurfing is for surfers who can consistently get up behind the boat and ride.  If in doubt, take a Level 1 Wakesurfing Program.

Wakesurfing in Wine Country Days will include both Level 1 and Level 2 Wakesurfers in the same boat.

Surfboards and Wakesurf boards can be provided for use.  However, I recommend bringing your own board in order to train your brain what it feels like riding on it, turning it, moving on it, etc. Whatever you decide, please let me know whether you will be bringing a board or need to borrow one or rent one from a local surf shop. Please bring a board bag if you have one and are bringing your own board.

Depending on the time of year, wetsuits may or may not be necessary.  All other equipment required to Wakesurf will be provided.Lunch is included both days so that we can maximize riding time on the water.  The weekend also includes world-class coaching and analysis.

The Boat – Award Winning Wave Making Technology

We use a custom made boat with Surf Gate Technology, the same wave making technology that won Wakesurf Boat of the Year.  The boat’s hull is specially designed to create a long, powerful wave along with the Surf Gate Technology and Surf Wedge.  The wave can be modified to be long and mellow for beginner riders and longboarders, to short and steep for shortboarders, and everything in between.
